Ventilate
Thermal comfort is suffering as modern dwellings become increasingly more insulated and airtight. It is therefore extremely important to consider the indoor climate in your house. To achieve thermal comfort, all rooms in a house need to be ventilated properly.
Insufficient ventilation can drastically shorten the life of your roof and can void roof tile guarantees. Ventilation is essentially achieved through gaps at the base and, sometimes, the top of a roof structure allowing airflow through the void between the roof and the ceiling below. If you get a lot of condensation in your home, you may well need to check your ventilation. Another tell-tale sign to look for is mould growth on the walls of your home.
Current legislation provides regulations for cold roofs, (one in which insulation has been laid flat over horizontal ceiling), and warm roofs, (those that have insulation laid between or above the sloping rafters of the roof itself), as well as the type of underlay used.
